Travis sowers

Travis Sowers was born and raised in San Jose CA.  He has picked up many strange habits from California, like taking 5 semesters of scuba diving in community college.  His mother’s family is from Detroit and therefore he loves all Detroit professional teams and loves hockey more than all sports.  He plays harmonica, rides motorcycles, and loves all sorts of music.  Travis worked in an Elementary School for 4 years as one of the after school workers and that is where he found his love for teaching.  He is going to be a Senior this Fall at Lipscomb University and graduate in May with a bachelors of education certified to teach Middle School History and English.  He is most excited to reconnect with the students of WSYG and looking forwards to going to Ghana this summer on the mission trip.

Ginna Marsh

Ginna Marsh is from Cynthiana, KY and a senior at Campbellsville University.  She is studying Music Education with an emphasis on voice.  She grew up on a farm and sings with her family.  She has also sung in a choir since she was seven years old.  She has worked with Missionaries for America Program for the past six years and Woodland Bible camp for the past ten years.  She grew up in church and church camps.  She enjoys church activities/camps, singing, teaching, spending time with friends and family, hiking, and fishing.  She is really looking forward to working with the kids and getting to know each of them.  She is also looking forward to going on the Miami mission trips.

Send Some Love to Ghana

5/8/2014

Those of us who will not be going to Ghana this summer have an incredible opportunity to send some love with those who are!  Here are the ways you can help.

Gift Bibles are being purchased for the house parents at the Village of Hope.  If you would like to make a financial donation toward these gifts, please give your cash or check to Joe Galloway or Carol Michael or drop it off at the church office during business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday). Please enclose your gift in an envelope labeled GHANA GIFT BIBLES.

Items are being collected for the girls at The Pearl House as well.  Bring any of the following items to collection boxes located in the Auditorium foyer, the Fellowship Hall and the lobby near the Station in the CLC.
  • School supplies (pencils, sharpeners, erasers)
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Paperback books (The girls are learning English and could practice with your gently used picture books and simple chapter books!)
  • Shirts, skirts, and dresses (larger girls’ sizes or smaller women’s sizes, in good condition, knee length dresses/skirts)
  • Educational toys and workbooks
  • Bible storybooks

Let’s make sure our mission team has many gifts to take with them to express our love to those in Ghana!
