![]() I’m excited to announce that we have added Urban Farms as a Lightshine work project. You can find out more about what they do by clicking here. We will also be working at the Caritas Village and with the Families in Transition program at Agape. The sign up deadline is May 8. Lighshine is always a great time to serve and to fall in love with our city. We hope you are planning to attend. ![]() Every time we go downtown and hand out sandwiches to our friends at “squirl” park, we never know what to expect. Anything could happen. There are times when we’ve gone down there and we had too many sandwiches and not enough people. There are other times when we could buy out Superlo and not have enough food. There are times when we get in some pretty amazing conversations and others when the people don’t really want to interact with us at all. There are times when the homeless people have been cleared out of the park because of a downtown event. There are times when the police have asked us not to pass out sandwiches and times when the police have helped us pass them out. It’s just best to go down there without any expectations. Some of our favorite times are when we meet other organizations down at the park who are also dedicated to showing the love of God to the under-served. This week we met some pretty amazing young ladies called the S.W.A.G. Team Outreach. S.W.A.G. stands for Serving With an Amazing God. They have organized on facebook and are serving God with passion and joy. They were also passing out sandwiches. It was so much fun getting to know them and combining our forces to make sure some of the folks in the park had an afternoon meal. We hope to meet up with them again in the future. Other highlights included a street performer singing us some songs and Ryan getting in a very serious bible discussion with one of the guys he met. In all, it was a great day to be in Memphis and see the face of God in our friends who hang out in the park. FEED THE HOMELESS - This week is Feed the Homeless. We will meet at the building to make sandwiches at 10:00 am, and return by 12:00 noon.
SUNDAY- We will have small groups this week. After small groups we will take part in the Pot Luck meal with Iglesia de Christo. WSYG.ORG - All of the summer signups are now live at our website.
